A new railway artist with a passion for capturing the colourful magic of heritage railways

There are many incredible railway artists who can beautifully capture fine detail and historical accuracy in their work. I draw inspiration from impressionists and fauvists, using lots of colour and fun!

About

I am a passionate lifelong railway enthusiast with a love of rail art. I enjoy painting as escapism from the hustle and bustle of daily life and have kept my hand in since taking A-Level Art back in secondary school. I'm still learning and keen to take my art to the next step. My chosen media is acrylic on canvas. I find painting trains and railways incredibly therapeutic and am able to inject my passion and enthusiasm into every piece of artwork. There is no greater sight for me than a steam engine in its natural habitat , with its wisps of steam and polished brass.

When I'm not painting, I volunteer as a steam locomotive fireman at the Dean Forest Railway, where I can be found up close and personal, stoking the fires of these awe inspiring, living, breathing machines. I aim to put that same energy into my art. There are many accomplished fine railway artists out there with an incredible level of attention to detail and historic accuracy. I take my inspiration from the fauvists and impressionists, using bright colours and experimenting with brush techniques, mixed in with a reasonable level of detail on the locomotives and infrastructure to produce my paintings. I'd love you to keep an eye on my journey!
