Talyllyn Railway 'Douglas' crosses Dolgoch Viaduct
A recently completed study of Talyllyn Railway's No6 Douglas crossing the iconic Dolgoch Viaduct in stunning Mid-Wales. Douglas was built by Andrew Barclay & Co Ltd in 1918 and can be seen puffing up and down the iconic 2ft3" narrow gauge railway, arguably one of the most influential and recognisable in the world.

Personal Attribute: I really enjoyed painting this one - I felt that the technique I used for the trees worked well and will continue to adopt in future works.

LMS Stanier Mogul 13268 at Bury Bolton Street
A trip to the East Lancashire Railway's Autumn Steam Gala inspired this piece of LMS Stanier Mogul 13268 patiently waiting its next departure from the majestic Bury Bolton Street station. This locomotive was on loan from the Severn Valley Railway and provided the perfect themed guest for the gala.

40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' at Highley
Here we see British Rail Class 40 40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' at Highley, Severn Valley Railway. This engine is always popular and always looks well turned out in BR Green. Highley Station is a perfectly preserved example of a Great Western country station and is a great place to break a journey.

Goliath at Goodrington
GWR 5205 Class 5239 Goliath steams down into Paignton past the iconic beach huts at Goodrington Sands on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. Behind the loco is the Devon Belle observation carriage, offering luxury views of the coastline.

Personal Attribute: This painting is special to me, as it shows my wife and three children waving to the train! I was inspired to paint this after a beautiful day on the beach in June 2025.
Gala day at Kemsley Down
The wonderful attraction of a proper industrial narrow gauge railway is always on show at the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway. The railway was built to carry paper from source to sea and still uses the same locomotives and rolling stock to this day. Here, we see Melior and Triumph awaiting their next turns at Kemsley Down.

Dr Syn at Dungeness
Miniature steam locomotives on Britain's only desert. A wonderful combination of quirk and curioscity. Here we see Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway No.10 Dr Syn, built in 1931 based on the Canadian Pacific railroad. The 1/3 scale 15" gauge loco is seen powering away from the baloon loop at Dungeness under a darkening and myserious sky.

Personal Attribute: I grew up near this railway and have a lot of passion for it. I hope this shows through in my art. Dungeness is a mysterious place and I wanted the sky to tell that story.

Last push to the Brocken
This was created as a commission piece for a friend and features 2-10-2 Harz loco 99 7243-1 on the final charge up to the summit of the Brocken, the highest point in mid-Germany. The Harz Network covers over 140km of narrow gauge steam hauled railway - a must visit fot any steam enthusiast.

The Cathedrals Express
Battle of Britain Class 34067 Tangmere accelerates up Martin Mill Bank in Kent, hauling the prestigious Cathedrals Express. Growing up in Kent, we often saw Tangmere on the circular charters to Canterbury, returning via the Kent Coast. The engine proved a firm favourite in that part of the country. I wanted to bring colour to this painting in whichever I could!
